Banksy pledges funds to help buy Reading Gaol

The campaign to Save Reading Gaol has received a massive boost.

Banksy has pledged that he will sell the stencil for his Create Escape artwork that is on the wall of Reading Gaol. The proceeds from its sale would go to support Reading Borough Council’s bid to convert Reading Gaol into an arts and heritage centre.

The stencil, which could potentially be worth millions of pounds, will hopefully be enough to convince the Ministry of Justice to accept Reading Council’s bid.

This was made public in a Sunday Times exclusive on the 5th December by Waldemar Januszczak.
